The saltworks of Maras are very old, they first date from the pre-Inca period and have been developed over time. We can trace their exploitation back to the 3rd century BC.
Maras salt is neither sea salt nor earth salt. It is a river salt, unique in the world. Indeed, it comes from two sources naturally loaded with salt that flow underground, which then gushat over 3500 m in the Andes. It is a pure salt of a slightly pinkish-orange colour, with a strong salty property.
It can be used everywhere, like a classic salt. With its pink colour, it will have the best effect on the table but be careful, it has a strong salting power.
Ingredient(s): unrefined salt.
Origin of this Maras salt: Peru.
